lululemon Flip Flop Soirée 2006
August 11 , 2006

Under the stars, the lululemon Flip Flop Soirée brought together over 450 guests to raise funds and awareness for the Centre for Integrated Healing. Including contributions from our generous sponsors, over $75,000 was raised at a beautiful, fun, backyard party that once again united Vancouver's health and athletic communities. When guests arrived at this year’s sold-out event, they were treated to a sweet Cactus Club Bellini and nibbled on a assortment of Cactus' delicious bites, then they sipped Sonora Ranch Wine, Pom Wonderful ‘tini’s and Stella Artois beer, chatted and flirted with Vancouver's funnest - dressed in their finest (wearing flip flops- of course).

The interactive DDrum Cafe kicked off the entertainment followed by a colourful Tropicana samba dance demo, guests then packed together on the grounds of the swanky Steele Family mansion to dance 'till the wee hours with DJ Ward’s tunes. Emcees Buzz Bishop and Sarah Bartok kept things moving and built up excitement for the silent auction, balloon giveaways and raffle for a trip for two plus airfare from FCm to Eco-Res resort in Mexico. To top off the event, Whole Foods filled partiers up with their tasty desserts and guests took home a coveted gift bag filled with goodies for a feel-good afterglow that will last for weeks.

Effective Events planned and executed the lululemon Flip Flop Soireée, a fundraising event benefiting the Centre for Integrated Healing. Guests enjoyed a magical event experience including a beautiful summer night in the park of a majestic Shaughnessy mansion brightly lit with the seven colours of the body’s energy centres- the chakras.

Guests enjoyed dancing underneath the bright moon and indulged in henna tattoos, body painting, yoga lessons, massage chairs, fun games and scrumptious food created by Milestone’s restaurant. Proceeds from the Soirée were directed toward expanding the Centre’s services and increasing its patient capacity. The Centre’s medical team—the first physicians in Canada to be funded by the Provincial Government to provide integrated cancer care—were able to reduce its patient waiting list! Founder/Owner Chip Wilson explains lululemon’s passion for this event: “We support the Centre because they are proactive in cancer education and because they treat the whole person; not just the cancer. Our belief is that this is the future of cancer treatment and it deserves lululemon’s assistance."
